Resilience Spotlight: Amitty Peace Building Businesses That Bounce Back.

Mangrove

My name is Amitty. I originally hail from Australia but don't hold that against me! I'm a passionate traveller who has been fortunate enough to work in over 20 countries. My lifelong passion is solving complex problems. I love breaking down challenges, simplifying them, and ensuring successful outcomes.

By trade, I'm a data-driven continuity, operational, and technology resilience specialist. For the past decade, I've been working as a resilience advisor, supporting companies like Goldman Sachs, Amazon, Wise, Deutsche Börse, and others to build resilience in various areas.

I began my career working on Australian Government Federal contracts. I worked in prisons and defence bases, focusing on their technical security and risk management policies. During this time, I identified a significant gap in their processes and management strategies for handling crises.

This realisation led me to shift my focus from general security consulting to resilience strategies. My first major contract was with Goldman Sachs, where I served as the Security Risk Analyst Manager. In this role, I played a pivotal part in safeguarding the organisation's operations and reputation. The position demanded a unique combination of strategic thinking, operational expertise, and crisis management skills. It was also my first experience managing a large team and served as a springboard for my career in resilience.

A year later, I packed my bags and decided to take my skills global. I haven't looked back since. My experience working in diverse cultures and environments has enriched my understanding of resilience and its application in different contexts. I've had the opportunity to work with organisations of all sizes and industries, gaining valuable insights into their unique challenges and needs.

My Approach to Resilience

I guess this is a good time to introduce myself by passion. I'm a founder, resilience innovator, and startup enthusiast with a decade of experience in corporate resilience. I've learned a great deal about how corporations leverage resilience as a strategy, and I've witnessed many startups fail due to preventable causes. This results in significant losses for investors. I believe resilience is the missing piece in the startup ecosystem.

Resilience isn't just about bouncing back from unexpected circumstances or emerging stronger. It's about having a clear understanding of your business and operational transparency.

Many companies fail because they lack a holistic understanding of their operations. CEOs, managers, and key personnel often focus solely on their specific domains, neglecting to fully comprehend how the entire business functions.

Resilience is the confidence to say, "I understand my company's components, what's important, and why; so when something goes wrong, I can respond effectively."

Imagine your business as a complex recipe. Each ingredient plays a role, and a missing key ingredient can significantly impact or cripple the entire meal. As a business owner or investor, it can be difficult to understand which ingredients are critical and why. Resilience provides the framework and strategies to address this problem.

That's why I decided to automate the framework I've been refining over the past decade while advising large companies on building and sustaining resilience. My approach to building resilience is slightly different but highly successful. By focusing on identifying and strengthening core components, businesses can ensure adaptability and robustness in the face of any challenge.

Current Projects

This is where I would like to introduce Mangrove, your resilience co-pilot.

Imagine a basketball team: one without a ball or hoop, another with a ball and hoop but lacking proper gear, and a third equipped with the best technology and training. Just as a basketball team needs the right equipment to win, a business needs a robust resilience framework to succeed.
